Obama Signs Tax Credit Extension

On June 30, the House pushed through an extension for the homebuyer tax credit. The Senate unanimously approved the bill — leaving the President to ratify the provision by signing it into law, as early as July 1. President Obama signed the bill into law on Friday extending the first-time homebuyer’s tax credit. However, this does not extend the date to sign a purchase agreement, the extension is only for those who had contracts dated no later than May 1, 2010 who will now have until September 30, 2010 to settle in order to qualify for the $8,000 credit.
